About

James Innes (1754-1798) served in the Continental Army as lieutenant colonel of the Fifteenth Virginia Regiment, and from 1780 to 1786, he represented James City and then Williamsburg at the Virginia House of Delegates. In 1786, he was elected Virginia's Attorney General, resigning for health reasons in 1796.
