Description

Six valves comprising three complete freshwater mussels. The shells are dark brown to black in color with growth lines covering the exteriors of the shells. Shallow muscle scars are visible on the interiors of the shells, which are iridescent and light pink in color. The periostracum on the shells is flaking off, especially around their umbos. The triangle shaped shells have rounded anterior edges and rounded posterior edges. The shells have large winged shaped shelves near their umbos.
